Evaluation question 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
From the audience feedback I gathered i discovered that most people who took part in my survey tend to love pop and rock more than the other genres i had stated in the questionnaire.
This was a relief when I found this from my feedback as I already had the song i wanted to do for my music video in mind and my survey showing that most people love rock music as a pose to other genres. This meant when I created the music video for the song "Can't stop" I would have a bigger target audience to be aiming my video at.
However all of the people that took part in my essay happened to be in the same age category, I put this down to me only being able to share my survey with other students of the college and people I have on Facebook twitter and other social networking sites who all fall into the same age group unfortunately. This means that the survey I conducted may not be the most reliable as answers may vary in different age groups and would give me different statistics.
As for the question on star image only 25% of the people that answered my survey said it was "very important" this was a much lower percentage to what i expected, however 58% of people answered that its "Not that important but its good to have". After doing this research I decided to give my actor and band members a bit of star image so they are a recognisable figure but not go to far with costumes, hair, makeup etc. to the people where it is cutting into recording and editing time as the audience seemed to think it was not that important.
I also asked on my questionnaire what peoples opinions are on the Red hot chili peppers, most of the feedback I got here was positive and the audience said that they enjoyed the music from this band, some even went as far to say things such as "my favourite band" and "they are gods". As you can imagine this was a relief for me as the song I was creating a music video was by this band, this encouraged me as it seems from the feedback the audience that took part in the questionnaire would like to see the video produced.
Most of the audience who filled out my questionnaire said performance or narrative were most important in a music video that is why i decided to use elements of both when i created my music video. By doing this I will reach both parts of the audience who thing either narrative or performance is most important in a music video.
50% of the people who filled out my questionnaire stated that the main reason they watch the music video for a song is because they like the song and they simply want to see what the music video will be like. This helped me as i realised to impress the target audience i needed some conventions that are usually used in this genre of music or even with the band.

Album advert draft 2
On this second draft of the album advert i decided to change the format of it completely as it did not show much of my editing skills or my ability to use photoshop, i do not have much experience with photoshop admittedly but i used youtube tutorials to help me learn some more methods so i could make a better album cover / album advert
Final album advert
Album title
After a lot of consideration being put into what i can call my album i will be producing a cover, digipack and an advert for I decided to call my album broken records.
I came up with this name as i didn't want the album to have a simple name and thought maybe an album name like this would question the audience. Whilst i was doing my research it seemed to me that many bands in this particular genre or similar genre have took the same approach (I assume) such as; "Days Are Gone" by Haim, "Holy Fire" by Foals and "The Invisible Way" by Low.
Researching these albums had a big influence on me to come up with a mysterious name for my album. The main thought behind it is if a record breaks people tend to think of it playing the same piece over and over again and we want the audience to be playing the songs in the album over and over again.

Album cover draft 3
On this page I have posted my third draft for my album cover, as you can see i decided to merge several photos i had taken into one photo, i decided to do this because i thought it would look appealing to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Album cover draft 2
On this page I have posted my second draft of my album advert, as you can see is quite different from the first draft of the album cover i made. This is not the final album cover i will be using this has just been posted to see the progression of the final album cover.
In this second draft of my album cover it shows the lead singer of the band with the background faded and the actor i used in my music video faded in the background. I decided to do this because i thought it would look better and allowed me to show some of the skills i have on photoshop and shows my creative side more.
Final cut (Complete music video)
Finally the music video is finished! As you can see in this video I have sorted all of the lip synching in the video to make it look more realistic to the audience and also added text over the top of the video at the start introducing the band and the song.
Rough cut 3
In this cut of my music video it shows that I have decided to gather an actor to be in the music video, I did this because i wanted to have something in my music video other than just the band playing their instrument and singing.

Evaluation question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
In my A2 media I decided to use "Can't Stop" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to create my music video, I used many conventions of a typical music video of the same or similar music genres would use in their music video such as the running at the start of the video. I tried to have quite a few elements that were quite regular for this type of music video as this is what the audience for this type of music video have watched before and enjoyed.
In my video as well as having the typical conventions of an alternative rock style video (running around, band playing instruments etc) I decided to make it like the actor I chose to use in this music video was almost telling a story. I decided to do this to challenge the usual conventions of the typical music video for this genre, also i wanted to make the audience think about the lyrics and maybe make them think there is sometimes more to a song than they first anticipated.
I used 'star image' on my actor to make him look more distinctive, i decided to do this as if the main character in the video looks more distinctive I believe that the audience who watch this music video will remember it more. However I did give any of the band members star image, this is maybe something i could have (and will do if i get another opportunity to make a music video again) done to improve the parts where it is just the band playing the instruments.

Album cover draft
On this page I will be showing the cover for the album I have produced.
As you can see I have used a filter over the top of the original image, I decided to do this as I believed it would look more attractive to the target audience for this album.
For the text I decided to use very large text at the top, I decided to do this as it would be eye catching and will attract peoples attention and maybe make them want to buy the album.

Album advert draft
On this page I have produced a album advert for the the album of the band i made a music video for. I decided to put a filter over the original picture to make it look more mysterious and appealing to a bigger audience.
I decided not to type much on the advert as i did not want audiences to have to stop and look at it to long, I just want it to catch their eye and it to be something for them to remember and that will stick in their mind.
As you can see in the bottom left corner i used magazines and put quoted their views of the album, I decided to do this after doing my magazine advert research and I had seen this on quite a few of these adverts.
I decided to use this text as it is quite unusual to what you see on a normal magazine advert and this will attract more attention to it, creating a bigger audience.
However this does not show much of my editing skills and i would like to be more creative in producing my final album advert so it can appeal to an even larger audience and gain more publicity.

Audience profile
Whist doing my audience research i discovered that the majority of people took a liking to rock, pop and indie genres over all the others this was helpful as the music video i will be producing will be under the rock genre the majority of people who filled out my survey where 15-24 years of age.
Most of the people who took part in the questionnaire were most likely students of the college.

Advert Analysis (You Me at Six "Hold me down)
On this page i will be analysing an other album advert, the reason i decided to do another advert analysis was to get more of a variation of an advert for an album so i can gather more ideas for the advert i will eventually produce for my music video.
The album advert I decided to analyse is the You Me at Six album "Hold me down" this is also in a similar genre to the one i have chose to create a music video for, so this will be good to get ideas for my music advert from as well.
Advert analysis (Arctic Monkeys "The Jeweller's Hands")
On this page i am doing an advert analysis of an album. The reason i am doing this is because i will be producing an advert for the music video i am producing.
The album i have chose to use to do this research for is the Arctic Monkeys album "The Jeweller's Hand" the reason i chose to do this album is because it is a similar genre to the type of music i will be producing a video for.

As you can see on the advert it shows us the album cover of the album and also shows us some reviews that have been done on the album by music albums such as "NME" and "Q" the main purpose of album adverts like this are to attract a larger audience which in turn will generate more profit which id the main goal.
This advertisement is quite smart as there is not much writing on it so people do not have to stand there and read it they can just have a quick look as they pass by and it will stick in their head and they will remember it because the advert is straight to the point.
Mark scheme
As you can see on this page I have inserted the mark scheme for the modules I will be doing this year.
I have used this to show what i will be getting marked on and also for my own benefit to look at and remind myself what i need to do to ensure I receive the best possible marks I can.

Audience research survey
On this page I have produced a survey to gather some intel on what a typical audience would like in a music video. This will be useful for me as it will help me get more ideas for my music video i will be producing.
When I get results on this survey i will be using what people prefer in a music video to put in my own video.
In order to get more results and a wider range of answers i decided to share my survey on my twitter page to the people who follow me so they can answer it.

Mock Digipack
This is a mock digipack i have produced i decided to use screen shots from the video i have produced in this to see how it would look.
As you can see some of the pictures i used on here did work quite well but i my own opinion I do not think that it looks professional enough and would look better with more still photos so in making my final digipack I will be taking different shots of the members of the band and the full band together.

Magazine advert analysis (Kings of leon - Mechanical Bull)
On this video I will be analysing an advert for an album that has been produced the album I decided to use on this page is the album "mechanical bull" by the band "kings of leon" this album was released in 2013.

Creative music video two
I decided to look at a different type of music video for a bit more of an idea on different music videos. the second creative i chose to look at is "Radioactive" by "imagine dragons" i decided to look at this video because it is also an unusual type of video but this seems to have some sort of story line behind it.
As you can see on the video it is almost like it has two story lines, I presume this is to make the audience think about it which will make it harder to forget the song. By doing this it could possibly increase the target audience as if some people are not a fan of the music they may still enjoy the music video.

Recording locations
On this page I will be discussing where the recording for the video I want to produce. I decided for the shots I did of the band playing the instruments during the videos it would be a good idea to use the college music rooms as it is a good facility that a band would use to practice and would fit in with the music video very well
as for other locations i decided to use a room to show the singer singing in a room and looking himself in the mirror this will be useful to show a bit of scenery in the video and will hopefully help me achieve more marks.

Creative music video
In this part of my research I decided to look at some creative music videos that I may use some ideas from when i produce my music video. The video I chose to use for this is "Pompeii" by "Bastille". Bastille are an up and coming band that have been recently realised the song "Pompeii" is off their debut album named "Bad blood"which has been quite successful.
As you can see on the video it is unusual and different from other music videos that have been made in the past. This is why I will use elements of this video as inspiration whilst i am producing mine.

Choice of shots
I have chose many shots for the video i will produce but the main ones i will be using are medium shots, i will be using this to show members of the band and the instruments they will be playing and close up shots, this will be used to show the lead singer of the band to show the expression on his face when he is singing the words of the song this will be important for the music video as it will give the audience more of a feel to the song and finally the next important shot used will be long shot this will be used to show the full band playing the song this is important as it will show all the members of the band playing together.
Problems with band
During my recording progress with the first band I gathered to feature in the video I want to produce. This band did not co-operate very well and did not have the level of organisation skills that I needed to help me with the recording I wanted to do as certain band members cancelled on me on the last day. This forced me to find a new band that would co-operate more with me in order to help me produce the video in time to meet the deadline.
